Describe the purpose of the job and why it exists:
The individual supports capital project teams, plant personnel, improvement personnel and other technical teams in the definition and implementation of business goals and objectives by bringing special process engineering expertise (such as steady state modeling, dynamic modeling and special chemical engineering know how) to these teams. Within capital project teams the individual is responsible for the timely and qualitative delivery of Process Engineering Deliverables according to Dow’s project methodology. The process engineering specialist is fully qualified as proficient in the application of chemical engineering skills and independently applies this knowledge in practical application.
If the person selected for this role is in the early stages of their process engineering career, they would likely serve as a core process engineer under the leadership of a “Lead PE,” or as the sole engineer of smaller capital or improvement projects. If the person selected for this role is an experienced process engineer, he/she would at times serve in the role of “Lead PE” for larger capital projects
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that the Process Engineering Work Process Discipline and Global Project Methodology are followed to provide Process Engineering Deliverables for projects.
2. Support improvement teams in the definition, evaluation and implementation of improvement projects according to the respective business objectives and goals.
3. Provide value adding technical solutions and/or implementation of most effective technology to project teams according to the units / teams objectives and goals.
4. Develop and enhance key process engineering competencies, such as steady state modeling, dynamic modeling, specific unit operations designs (e.g., Heat Exchange, Distillation), fluid dynamics calculations and others.
5. Participate in the Process Engineering mentoring program. Coach and mentor team members to accelerate people development, to improve quality of services and reduce variability of deliverables
6. Moderate travel is required since some projects might be outside home location
7. Must be willing to work on projects at different geographies / locations
